ABOUT

Nathan Reese is a writer and creative director specializing in brand storytelling, creative development, and cultural criticism. He’s the Executive Director of Creative Development at T Brand, the New York Times’ in-house creative studio, where he leads interdisciplinary teams across editorial, design, video, and strategy to build thoughtful, resonant campaigns for global brands. His role blends high-level creative leadership with hands-on execution—guiding projects from concept to delivery, shaping narratives that are strategically grounded, editorially rigorous, and built to connect with real audiences.

Since joining T Brand in 2015, Nathan has helped develop work for clients including Netflix, Nike, GE, Spotify, Google, Mercedes-Benz, Paramount+, and YouTube among many others. He works closely with partners across departments—strategy, marketing, sales, and program management—to ensure creative is as effective as it is original. In 2022, he led creative for GE’s “How Focus Takes Us Further” campaign—the first time in The New York Times’ 171-year history that a single advertiser owned an entire print edition. His work has won a Webby for Best Branded Editorial Experience and been recognized by Adweek, Digiday, and Campaign US, where he was shortlisted for Creative Person of the Year.

As a journalist, Nathan’s writing has appeared in Pitchfork, SSENSE, The New York Times, GQ, Interview, Vice, Refinery29, and T Magazine, often exploring how music, identity, and place intersect. His editorial voice mixes curiosity, context, and deep cultural reporting—whether profiling experimental record labels, covering fashion week, or ranking Leonardo DiCaprio’s life year by year. He’s drawn to stories that resist easy categorization and reflect the emotional, political, and spatial dynamics of their time.

Originally from Cardiff-by-the-Sea, California, Nathan studied philosophy at UC Berkeley before moving to New York. He now lives in Los Angeles with his wife, son, and retired racing greyhound, Fiesta “Hal” Jalisco.
